Spelling Bee

The final round of the 2024 Galesburg #205 Spelling Bee took place on Tuesday, May 7th, at Lombard Middle School. Students first competed in rounds at each elementary school and at Lombard Middle School.

At King, Silas Willard, and Steele Elementary students in grades 2-4 competed first at the classroom level, followed by a grade level competition, before the final school round competition. Each school then sent the top three spellers to Lombard for the final district competition.

The spelling rounds at Lombard Middle School were done by grade level, and then 4 students in 5th grade and 4 students in 6th grade participated in the final round against each other.

We would like to thank Superintendent, Dr. Asplund for moderating the competition, District Librariarains, Rebecca Rappenecker and Danielle Empey for serving as judges, and to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Jenny Bredemeier for coordinating a fun day for all the finalists!

Congratulations to all the participants and winners!
