Steele Elementary students were all smiles Tuesday as the National Theatre for Children brought its interactive production, The Grin Prix, to the school, giving students an energetic and entertaining lesson about the importance of dental health and hygiene.

Sponsored by Delta Dental of Illinois, the program used humor and plenty of energy to keep students engaged while teaching them important lessons about taking care of their teeth. Students learned about proper brushing and flossing, making healthy choices, and developing good habits to keep their smiles healthy.

The lively performance gave students a fun and memorable way to learn about a topic that is an important part of their overall health and well-being.

Steele School Nurse Sue Knuth scheduled the program for students because she believes dental health education is especially important for children.

“Dental health is so important for our students,” Knuth said. “We want them to understand that taking care of their teeth is an important part of taking care of themselves.”

The National Theatre for Children uses live theatre to bring educational topics to students. The performers' energy and enthusiasm kept Steele students attentive and involved throughout The Grin Prix.

Galesburg CUSD #205 thanks the National Theatre for Children and Delta Dental of Illinois for providing Steele students with this fun and educational opportunity to learn more about the importance of a healthy smile.
